US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice said Friday "it's hard" for Israeli troops to shield civilians in Gaza because the area is so densely populated and Hamas uses people as human shields. This comes only hours after a UN agency has said Israeli troops evacuated Palestinian civilians to a house in Gaza City, then shelled the building 24 hours later.
The UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs dated the incident to Jan. 4, a day after Israel began its ground offensive against the people of Gaza. Based on an eyewitness testimony, the account added details to an incident previously reported by The Associated Press and an Israeli human rights group. The UN agency said 110 people were in the house and 30 people were killed, far higher figures than in other accounts. It said a Red Cross medical team was blocked from reaching the area until three days later. Rescuers were allowed in on foot, without ambulances.
It’s not at all strange to hear this form an official whose administration is waging wars all over the planet. It seems that Rice is making the grounds for more atrocities to come by Israel. After more than two weeks of indiscriminate bombardment of almost everything that moves in Gaza, the Israeli army appears unable to allege any military accomplishment aside from killing hundreds of Palestinian civilians. This tactic of cold bloodedly targeting Palestinian civilians is obviously aimed at inflicting unbearable pain on the Palestinian population to get them to revolt against Hamas.
So Rice thinks by saying that she is giving the Israelis the time and justification to continue using this inhumane tactic for political ends. In other words Rice and Israel think they can cheat the people they are killing and whole world into thinking that Hamas is to blame for all these daily killings. What a great plan to win the war is that?
